Art, Voice, and Independent Thinking — for Every Child.

Now launching: OpenJoy Summer Camp 2026
OpenJoy Foundation helps children ages 6–12 develop creativity, critical thinking, and confidence through art, imagination, and meaningful activities.

This summer we are launching OpenJoy Summer Camp 2026 — a full-day program where kids explore, create, play, and grow together.

We especially welcome children from immigrant families and families with limited access to creative and educational opportunities.

OpenJoy Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Our Mission
OpenJoy Foundation is a public charity advancing critical thinking, creativity, and human authorship in children ages 6–12 through art, imagination, and responsible engagement with artificial intelligence. We expand access to high-quality creative education for children from families with financial problems and immigrant families — especially those facing language barriers — ensuring every child can think independently and express their own voice in the AI era.
Who We Serve
We focus on children and families who often have limited access to high-quality creative and educational programs:
  • Families with financial challenges
Families who may not be able to afford enrichment programs, camps, or creative learning experiences — yet whose children deserve opportunities to think, create, and lead in the AI era.
  • Immigrant families and multilingual communities
Families building new lives while navigating a new language and culture. We create welcoming, culturally sensitive programs designed to reduce language barriers and help children develop confidence, authorship, and belonging.
  • Children seeking safe, culturally responsive spaces to learn and express themselves
Children who benefit from environments that honor identity, encourage independent thinking, and support creative growth in a world shaped by artificial intelligence.
  • Single-parent households
Parents who work tirelessly and need trusted, enriching spaces where their children can build confidence, creativity, and future-ready skills.
Our Story
OpenJoy Foundation was born from something we kept seeing again and again.
Children were no longer spending hours struggling through homework, asking questions, making mistakes, and slowly understanding. Instead, many were simply uploading assignments into AI and receiving instant answers.
The work was done.

But the thinking wasn’t.
We are not against artificial intelligence. AI is powerful. It is here to stay.
But we began to notice something quieter and more concerning — children were losing the practice of thinking through problems, forming their own ideas, and discovering their own voice.
At the same time, many families — especially immigrant families and families with financial challenges — were navigating language barriers, cultural transitions, and limited access to enrichment opportunities. When creative and educational programs are out of reach, children lose even more space to explore, question, and build confidence outside the classroom.
We realized this is not just an educational issue.

It is a human one.

In a world where answers can be generated instantly, children still need safe spaces to imagine, create, collaborate, and wrestle with ideas. They need environments where their thoughts matter — not just the finished product.

OpenJoy Foundation creates those spaces.

Through art, storytelling, performance, and responsible engagement with AI, we help children ages 6–12 strengthen critical thinking, rebuild authorship, and gain confidence in their own voice.
Because in the age of intelligent machines, what matters most is raising intelligent, creative, and courageous humans.
What We Do (Programs)
At OpenJoy Foundation, we create structured, creative environments where children learn how to think — not just how to complete tasks.

  • We Strengthen Thinking Skills
We design activities that require children to:
    • Ask questions
    • Analyze information
    • Form their own ideas
    • Explain their reasoning
    • Reflect on their learning process
We focus on the “why” and “how” — not just the final answer.
  • We Build Human Authorship
Through art, storytelling, performance, and project-based learning, children:
    • Develop original ideas
    • Present their work confidently
    • Collaborate with peers
    • Experience the creative process from concept to completion
We help children move from consumption to creation.
  • We Teach Responsible AI Engagement
Rather than banning AI, we teach children how to:
    • Use AI as a tool for exploration
    • Question AI-generated content
    • Improve ideas instead of replacing them
    • Maintain ownership of their thinking
AI becomes an assistant — not a shortcut.
  • We Expand Access
    We intentionally reduce barriers by:
    • Offering free and low-cost programs
    • Creating welcoming spaces for immigrant families
    • Designing programs that work even when language barriers exist
    • Partnering with community organizations
Every child deserves access to creative education — not just those who can afford it.
Why We Are Here
We are here because something essential is quietly disappearing.

In classrooms and homes, artificial intelligence now provides answers in seconds. Homework can be completed instantly. Essays can be generated. Problems can be solved without struggle.

But thinking is not built through instant answers.

It is built through questioning, experimenting, making mistakes, and trying again.

We are here because children still need to practice being thinkers.
We are here because creativity cannot be automated.
We are here because authorship — the ability to form and express your own ideas — is a skill that must be developed, especially in the age of AI.
We are also here for families who face additional barriers — immigrant families navigating new languages, families with financial challenges, parents who want the best for their children but lack access to enrichment programs that nurture deeper thinking.

In a world accelerating toward automation, children deserve spaces that slow down the process and protect human imagination.

OpenJoy Foundation exists to ensure that in the age of intelligent machines, children remain independent, creative, and confident in their own voice.
Our Values
Human Authorship
We believe every child deserves to develop and express their own ideas. Technology may assist — but it must never replace a child’s voice.
Independent Thinking
We value reasoning over shortcuts. Children grow through questioning, reflection, and thoughtful problem-solving — not instant answers.
Responsible Use of AI
We embrace artificial intelligence as a tool for exploration and learning. We teach children to use AI ethically, critically, and with awareness.
Access with Dignity
We are committed to expanding access for children from families with financial problems and immigrant families. Language barriers and income should never limit creative opportunity.
Creativity as Essential
Art, storytelling, and imagination are not extras. They are fundamental to healthy development in the AI era.
Welcoming Community
We create safe, culturally responsive spaces where children feel seen, heard, and respected — regardless of background or language.
