A World Without the Internet
Interactive Educational Performance
Dates: August 17 & October 5
An interactive performance designed to help children explore the difference between virtual entertainment and real-life play.
Through games, challenges, and live interaction, children were invited to pause, reflect, and consciously choose how they want to play and connect.
Impact:
  • 👧🧒 40 children participated
  • 🎮 Children compared virtual games with real-world activities
  • 🧠 Developed awareness, communication, and teamwork skills
  • 🌍 All participants chose real-life play over screens
This performance sparked meaningful conversations and showed that children are ready — and eager — to engage with the real world when given the opportunity.
Community Toy Swap 12/12/2025
Our first community toy swap brought families together and gave children a chance to take home something new and special.
Impact:
  • 🎁 10 children received new-to-them toys
  • 🤝 Families connected in a warm, welcoming space
  • ♻️ Toys found a second life instead of being forgotten at home
This event showed how simple ideas, when supported by the community, can make a real difference.

More community events, workshops, and performances are coming soon.
How Wi-Fi Stole the New Year
During the holiday season, OpenJoy Foundation hosted a series of New Year morning performances titled “How Wi-Fi Stole the New Year.” These interactive shows were created especially for children from immigrant families, offering a familiar cultural celebration in a warm and welcoming environment.
In total, over 150 children attended the performances.

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and in-kind partners, we were able to provide 30 free tickets to families who otherwise might not have been able to attend. The remaining tickets were purchased by community members, helping make the events financially accessible while supporting our mission.
For many families, these performances became a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the New Year, connect with their cultural traditions, and spend time together as a community.

We are sincerely grateful to our sponsors, donors, and supporters whose contributions made this event possible and helped us create an inclusive and joyful holiday experience for children and families.
Educational Puppet Show for Toddlers
We hosted a cozy educational puppet show for young children and their parents.
About 30 kids attended the performance.
Through play, storytelling, and familiar characters, children learned:
  • why it’s important to listen to parents
  • how good behavior helps in everyday life
  • why healthy food matters
The format was gentle, interactive, and age-appropriate, helping little ones stay engaged while learning important life habits in a fun and friendly way.
